Janice Giteck

Seattle-based composer and teacher Janice Giteck analyzed with Darius Milhaud in the ’60s, with Oliver Messiaen in Paris, and, later on, percussion and gamelan music with Obo Addy and Daniel Schmidt, respectively. Globe and ritual music possess strongly inspired Giteck’s very own compositions, like the award-winning functions “Breathing Music From a Turning Sky” (which gained the NEA’s Composer’s Prize in the ’80s) and “Thunder, Such as a Light Bear Dance” (1977 Norman Fromm Composers Prize). Giteck provides received commissions and grants or loans from Meet up with the Composer as well as the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Symphony, and provides written music for just two movies by Pat Ferrero. In the middle-’80s, she also gained a qualification in mindset, and worked many years for the Seattle mental wellness organization.
