Janek Schaefer

Londoner Janek Schaefer began deconstructing music in the sensitive age of 6, when he assembled an audio collage called “Trip.” After learning structures at Manchester Metropolitan College or university, he continuing his sound artwork experiments with a bit called “Documented Delivery,” which premiered in a London exhibition structured by Brian Eno and Laurie Anderson. The piece contains edited noises culled from a tape documenting created by a voice-activated gadget that traveled inside a box with the English postal system. Ultimately, a 7″ solitary of “Documented Delivery” premiered. A spate of live gigs and set up pieces adopted in the past due ’90s, concurrent with many cassette releases. During this time period, Schafer continuing to create and build his personal unique equipment for music producing, including a three-armed “tri-phonic” turntable and many highly specialized vinyl fabric mastering methods. Schafer also offers a strong fascination with field recordings like a compositional device. His passions converged on his excellent recording debut Above Structures, that was released on NOUVEAU RICHE BUSINESSMAN in 2000. Using its severe and gorgeous sonics, the record place Schafer on the amount of abstract music manufacturers like Fennesz and Oval.
