James Crawford

Originally recorded simply by Bessie Smith in 1930, the classic blues song entitled “Hustlin’ Dan” may also be credited to a James Crawford, additionally the mysterious “J. Crawford.” Like very much material out of this genre, the track was used from folk track sources in the general public domain. This isn’t Wayne “Sugarboy” Crawford, the R&B songwriter from New Orleans whose profession started in the ’50s.
