James Bryan was created in Mentone, AL. A fiddler nearly since delivery, Bryan gained his initial competition at 12, apprenticed with bluegrass professional Kenny Baker, and had taken the name of Tennessee Valley Fiddle Ruler at 17. He produced his single debut on Rounder with Lookout Blues in 1983; The To begin May followed 2 yrs afterwards. Both albums highlighted a variety of old-timey Southern music, many with twinges of the British and Scottish traditions intact. Bryan continuing to perform through the entire 1980s, both single with Norman and Nancy Blake. In 1995, he released Two Images, a cooperation with guitarist Carl Jones. He continuing to create regular performances at bluegrass and folk celebrations, often associated with his little girl Rachel Bryan on electric guitar.
