Southern Korean post-rock group Jambinai combine traditional instruments with components of steel and digital music. The three primary associates — Lee Il-Woo (electric guitar), Shim Eun-Yong (Geomungo), and Kim Bo-Mi (Haegeum) — fulfilled in ’09 2009 at Korea’s Country wide School of Arts while learning traditional Korean music. Once they graduated they made a decision to present traditional Korean music in a brand new and innovative light, partly as a a reaction to the developing popularity of universal K-Pop. Citing Nine Inches Nails as a significant rock impact and adding traditional musical instruments, Jambinai explored dark themes such as for example isolation and despair. Carrying out a self-titled 2010 EP, their debut record Différance premiered in 2012, getting praise because of its strength and interesting compositions. They embarked on a little tour beyond Korea to aid the debut, culminating using a present at SXSW celebration in Austin, Tx. In 2016, they released their sophomore record, A Hermitage, via Bella Union.
