Jamaican Queens

Inspired by hip-hop and dancehall, Detroit’s Jamaican Queens are an indie pop trio that stocks the synth pop sensibilities of rings like Flaming Lip area and MGMT. Adam Pressley and Ryan Spencer began the group a couple of months before their prior band, Prussia, split up, working from digital beats that Presley acquired documented in his home. Drummer Ryan Clancey got into the fold, as well as the group released a mixtape prior to making a video for “Children ESCAPE,” off their 2013 debut full-length, Wormfood.
