Biography
Probably one of the most popular and commercially successful samba interpreters within the ’60s and ’70s, Jair Rodrigues had his initial radio encounter in 1958 on the novice display in his hometown. Shifting to São Paulo, he earned a competition in another newbie present on Rádio Cultura. Learning to be a crooner in a number of nightclubs, he documented for the very first time in 1962 (“Marechal da Vitória”). His initial LP emerged in 1963, O Samba Como Ele É. In 1964, he previously his initial strike with “Deixa Isso Pra Lá,” which helped solidify his “malandro” (road smart) design.
