Multicultural pop singer Jain was influenced by the countless places she’s called home. Given birth to in Toulouse, France, with origins in Madagascar, she relocated to Dubai at nine and the Congo during senior high school, where she started tinkering with music, notably with manufacturer Mr. Display. After graduation, she came back to Paris for artwork school. On the way, she latched onto the music from these regions of her youngsters — such as for example French techno, Arabic percussion, as well as the rhythms of Africa — and mixed them into her very own design. She released her debut EP, Wish, in 2015. Made by French vocalist/songwriter Yodelice, Wish included the singles “Arrive” and “Makeba,” about South African vocalist and civil privileges icon Miriam Makeba. These tracks caught the hearing of Jaden Smith, which resulted in radio play on his Beats1 radio present and increased worldwide publicity. Her debut LP, Zanaka, premiered by the end of 2015 and was accredited yellow metal in France in Feb 2016.
