Jah Screw

b. Paul Like, c.1955, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Like started his musical profession because the operator for Echo Bell and later on U-Roy’s Stur Gav audio system with DJ Small Joe, aka Rating Joe. Like’s period as Stur Gav’s operator finished when the audio was destroyed through the 1980 elections in Jamaica. The duo after that became a member of Ray Symbolics Hi Fi. The audio system toured the united kingdom to rave evaluations, but was marred by tragedy when Ray came back to Jamaica. Tales associated with Ray’s death had been plentiful, and assorted from drink traveling to some shoot-out with the authorities. Rating Joe and Like embarked on a creation partnership making use of their personal Clear Axe label and experienced strikes in 1982 with ‘Snow Cream Design’ and Armageddon. In 1984 Like created Barrington Levy’s ‘Under Mi Sensi’, which resulted in an extended and successful collaboration. His creation of ‘Right here I Arrive’ was associated with nationwide radio and tv exposure when certified to London Information. The label also released ‘Cash Techniques’, which flopped. Like also setup his personal Time One creation steady. In 1988 Like released his creation of Levy’s ‘She’s Mine’, and ‘Stage Up In Existence’ with Sassafras. In the past due 80s, like a performer he documented ‘Initial Soundboy Killer’ for Wildfire, although he discovered greater success within the part of maker. In 1991 ‘Dancehall Rock and roll’, a variance on Bob Marley’s ‘Trenchtown Rock and roll’, topped the reggae graphs when Love, right now referred to as Jah Screw, teamed Levy with DJ Cutty Rates. In 1994 he created DJ Beenie Guy for the ragga remix of ‘Under Mi Sensi 94 Spliff’, leading to another reggae chart-topper. Pursuing Jah Screw’s achievement in pairing up Levy using the DJs, then recruited Bounty Killer for 1995’s ‘Living Dangerously’.
