Biography

Among the hardest-touring rings from the ’90s, Jackopierce slipped beneath the mainstream’s radar to earn a widespread following on university campuses making use of their pleasant acoustic folk-pop. Guitarists/performers Jack port O’Neill and Cary Pierce founded the duo in 1988, while both had been participating in Southern Methodist School in Dallas as movie theater majors. Honing a charmingly basic, low-key audio focused around vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars, both developed a solid local following throughout the Dallas region. In 1991, they self-released an eponymous initial album independently Rhythmic Information, and embarked on a grueling touring timetable that helped cultivate a nationwide collegiate pursuing. Two even more self-released albums — the 1992 enthusiast favorite Girl as Salvation and 1993’s partially new Live In the Americas — helped broaden that pursuing, as did a thorough nationwide email list that held their group of fans well-informed (in the times before the explosion of the web). Jackopierce’s DIY heart was rewarded using a major-label agreement from A&M in 1994. Their debut record, Bringing on the elements, was made by T-Bone Burnett, who added extra equipment to flesh out their audio. Virtually ignored with the mainstream mass media, the album non-etheless marketed over 100,000 copies. In its wake, O’Neill and Pierce added a full-time tempo section in bassist Clay Pendergrass and drummer Earl Darling. Their following work, 1996’s Finest Hour, was a completely electrified break off their long-established acoustic audio. However, it didn’t break the music group in to the mainstream. In past due 1997, they made a decision to split up and move ahead, and embarked on a nationwide farewell tour. In addition they released the double-disc retrospective 10 years, which highlighted a smattering of live shows and unreleased monitors. Both O’Neill and Pierce continuing to create and record independently; O’Neill also transferred to NY and became a member of the Bat Movie theater Company. In past due 2002, Jackopierce made a decision to reunite and strike the road once more, to the pleasure of the still-active group of fans.
