Jackie Davis

Among the earliest jazz organists, Jackie Davis emerged shortly after Wild Expenses Davis, around once while Milt Buckner and Expenses Doggett. Davis was created in Jacksonville, FL, on Dec 13, 1920, and started playing piano around city before he was actually ten. He quickly joined a music group along with a 19-piece orchestra, and continued to review music at Florida A&M. He attempted pipe body organ, but didn’t make the change until the advancement of the Hammond, which responded a lot more quickly towards the player’s hands, rendering it much more ideal for jazz. In early stages, Davis was a follower of Crazy Costs Davis, and like Costs Doggett, he obtained valuable knowledge playing for just a little over a calendar year in Louis Jordan’s music group. Davis started leading his very own sessions within the middle-’50s, and spent 16 years documenting many albums for Capitol, debuting with Hi-Fi Hammond. The majority of his function fell in to the world of small-group soul-jazz, frequently with addresses of pop criteria, though there have been occasional adjustments in instrumentation (Jackie Davis Fits the Trombones, The Hammond Body organ Plus Voices) and stylistic detours (Hammond Eliminated Cha-Cha, and several later gospel periods). Davis came back with a fresh self-titled record for EMI in 1980, plus an appearance within the humor Caddyshack. Davis continuing to create his house in Jacksonville, where he passed away on November 2, 1999, pursuing problems from a heart stroke.
