Jack Gibbons continues to be called “the Gershwin pianist in our period,” and rightfully thus. On four exceptional CDs documented for the Uk ASV label, he reconstructed and documented practically all of George Gershwin’s piano improvisations (extracted from the composer’s recordings from the 1920’s and 30’s) and agreements for piano. In some way Gibbons were able to not merely play Gershwin’s records but to recreate his spirit.
