Merging synth-pop, folk, funk, and psych-rock into trippy experimental pop, multi-instrumentalist Jaako Eino Kalevi was raised in Jyväskylä, a city in central Finland. He started making music like a young man after discovering Desire Theater’s prog-metal and hip-hop, teaching himself how exactly to play electric guitar and make use of beat-making software program before discovering reggae, disco, techno, and even more. Kalevi released a string of produces reflecting his omnivorous musical flavor, including 2010’s coldwave-inspired record Modern Lifestyle and 2013’s hazy, fittingly called Dreamzone EP. The next season, he released the disco homage Yin Yang Theater, an EP on DJ Tim Sweeney’s Is better than in Space label. His 2015 self-titled record appeared via the Domino imprint Strange World.
