A 90s hip-hop/jazz fusion saxophone participant, Spencer (b. c.1971, Oakland, California, USA) originally emerged via Motown Information’ MoJazz subsidiary imprint being a talented harbinger of the ‘new age group in jazz and rap’. The effect was ‘A little hip-hop/A little jazz’, as you monitor on his debut recording, Chimera Vol. 1, recommended. Composing credits included many for his friend, Elijah Baker (Tony! Toni! Firmness!), alongside his personal compositions. He was became a member of on classes for the task by Derrick Hall (bass), John ‘Jubu’ Smith (acoustic guitar) and Tommy Bradford (drums). The excess rapping staff included Mike D, P. Funk and Supplement C, all fellow natives of Oakland, in addition to the ‘Smooth Lip Horns’ brass section. The follow-up collection, Blue Moon, premiered by the end of 1995 and peaked at quantity 49 within the Billboard R&B graphs.
