J.P. Shilo

J.P. Shilo is in fact the delivery name of previous Hungry Spirits member John Brooks. An Australian slowcore instrumental group much like fellow Australian group the Dirty Three, Starving Ghosts split up following the discharge of the debut album, By itself, Alone (that was made by Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley and released on his HAS THE AROMA OF imprint), in 2000. The break up strike Brooks hard, and he reverted towards the name J.P. Shilo, after that essentially withdrew in the music scene, rising several years afterwards learning Tibetan Buddhism on the Tara Institute in Melbourne. While at the institute he started setting musical tips down on a four-track machine, so when Shelley noticed them, he wanted to discharge them on his label. The causing album, As Content as Sad Is certainly Blue, made an appearance from HAS THE AROMA OF in 2006. Shilo lately started using another Australian music group, the Dark Eyed Susans.
