It Lies Within

A tech-heavy metalcore device having a positive message and a flair for pairing punishing breakdowns with kinetic bursts of EDM, Flint, Michigan’s It Lays Within were founded in 2008. Created around the skills of longtime close friends Zachary Scott (vocals), Matthew Groshart (acoustic guitar), Kyle Dameron (acoustic guitar), Erik McKay (bass/vocals), and Kamron Mead (drums), It Lays Within were seeking to subvert a number of the bad energy encircling their stressed hometown into something a bit more life-affirming. The group spent its formative years honing its sound regionally, and by 2011 It Lays Within had been a full-time street operation seeking to place themselves onto the nationwide stage. High-profile displays with rings like Chiodos, the Devil Wears Prada, EVERYTHING Remains to be, and We Arrived as Romans helped to raise their profile, as do the discharge of their 2012 Luxor Records-issued debut recording, Chrysalis. The band’s sophomore studio room long-player, Paramount, adopted in early 2016.
