Using a droning yet jangly sound inspired by Stereolab, Sonic Youth, and Wilco, Kent, England’s It Hugs Back originally contains guitarist/vocalist Matthew Simms, keyboardist/vocalist Jack Theedom, bassist Paul Michael, and drummer Dimitri Sudell (who was simply later changed by Will Blackaby). The band’s initial single, Lighting in the Trees and shrubs, found its way to 2006 as a restricted edition of just one 1,000 copies. They came back the following calendar year with the Properly 7″ and agreed upon to As well Pure, with the first Evening one marking their debut discharge for the label. Various other Cars Go found its way to early 2008 and received airplay on XFM and compliment from NME, who likened these to Bright Eye. The Record Space, a compilation from it Hugs Back’s singles, made an appearance later that springtime. The band’s established debut album, WITHIN YOUR Guitar, came a year down the road 4AD. This year 2010, Simms also became a guitarist with artwork punk legends Wire. It Hugs Back again continued liberating EPs and online materials in the years between their appropriate albums. In 2012, they began their personal label, Safe and sound & Sound Information, and utilized the imprint release a their second recording, Laughing Party. They adopted it with 2013’s Suggested Record, also released independently label. The Krautrock-tinged Sluggish Wave found its way to 2015.
