Iro Haarla

Finnish pianist, harpist, and composer Iro Haarla is usually a classically trained musician having a bent toward atmospheric contemporary innovative and chamber-style jazz. Given birth to in 1956, Haarla analyzed piano and structure at Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy and was going toward a profession as concert pianist before conference drummer/bandleader Edward Vesala in 1978. This year 2010, she made an appearance in the trio record Heart of the Parrot with bassist Krokfors and saxophonist Rasmus Korsstrom. In 2011, Haarla came back to her ECM quintet for the record Vespers.
