Ira!

Ira was formed in São Paulo town in 1981 by guitarist Edgard Scandurra, his friend, bassist Dino, vocalist Nasi (Marcos Valadão), and drummer Charles Gavin. The name was a mention of the Irish Republican Military, and in addition means “anger” in Portuguese. After some club and university displays, they were taken up to Warner in 1983, documenting their first one, “Gritos na Multidão” b/w “Pobre Paulista.” In March, 1985, the music group obtained a “!” and place Gaspa (Ricardo Gasparini) instead of Dino, exchanging Gavin (who departed for the Titãs) for André Jung (who originated from the same music group). They documented their 1st LP, Mudança de Comportamento through Warner, which offered 50,000 copies. The next LP, Vivendo e Não Aprendendo, released the music group using its 165,000 copies offered as well as the inclusion of “Flores em Você” within the main TV Globo cleaning soap opera O Outro’s soundtrack.
