Maker, DJ, and rapper Understanding (given birth to Andre Todman) lived a peripatetic existence as a kid due to a calypso designer father who also performed along with his music group through the entire Caribbean. Born within the isle of St. Thomas, he migrated to america at age five along with his family members, which eventually resolved in the Boston region. An introverted musical prodigy, Todman experienced taught himself to try out the piano by enough time he was seven, but his globe was changed upside-down in 1982 upon hearing a melody with the rap group the Sugarhill Gang. The youthful virtuoso forthrightly plunged himself in to the hip-hop globe entirely, expending hours by itself in his bedroom learning–again on his own–every element of the genre by deconstructing music and sounds and building them online backup in his very own image. Along the way he also became an consumer electronics wizard, an art that would ultimately express itself in his cutting-edge music. As Understanding Todman begun to make a name for himself in the burgeoning Boston rap picture of the past due 1990s.
