Biography
Soft-voiced pop-R&B vocalist Ayanna Porter, referred to as INOJ (pronounced “I understand J”), began singing at age seven in her indigenous Madison, Wisconsin. She performed with her high school’s choir and during her university years in Baltimore became a member of a group known as Spellbound. With Spellbound, Porter backed functions like Regina Belle, Hi-Five, as well as the Whispers on East Coastline gigs. She also discovered are a session vocalist. In 1998, authorized to Jermaine Dupri’s Columbia-affiliated Therefore Therefore Def label, she released addresses of Prepared for the World’s “Like You Down” and Cyndi Lauper’s “TIME UPON TIME” as her 1st singles. The previous was a high Ten pop strike. Porter’s edition of Anita Ward’s “Band My Bell” made an appearance in 1999 and was accompanied by her debut recording, Ready for the entire world. She continued to create and/or record with Janet Jackson (“My Baby,” off 2004’s Damita Jo), Billy Crawford (“Nine to Five,” off 2007’s It’s Period), and Chantae Cann (“iChange,” off 2016’s Trip to Golden). Porter continuing to record in to the 2010s, but released just isolated tracks.
