Chicago indigenous and self-styled street poet Lateefa famous her 17th birthday in 1997, unaware a visitor at her party, Rashawnna Man, would quickly become her tightest partner in friendship in addition to in a shared pursuit for hip-hop stardom. Rashawnna, or Shawnna, as she’s known, may be the girl of blues impresario Pal Man and was motivated by rappers Nas, Glaciers Cube, as well as the Wu-Tang Clan as she honed her abilities within the subways and underground night clubs of Chicago. Lateefa, or Teefa, utilized her writing abilities to conceive raps that she done over beats her cousin provided. Being a duo, Shawnna and Teefa fulfilled with overpowering homegrown support, so when their demonstration produced waves on regional radio, they inked a cope with Relativity Information. 1998 noticed Infamous Syndicate tour within the Lyricist Lounge, getting critical acclaim because the premiere feminine duo representing hip-hop from Chicago.
