Biography

In the first ’90s, Chicago music artists Matt Walker and Jim Dinou began collaborating within their free time. In 1995, Walker became a member of the touring lineup of Filtration system, then shifted to fill up the drum throne for the Smashing Pumpkins after Jimmy Chamberlin’s near medication overdose and dismissal. Walker also produced several guest looks during this time period, lending drum function to albums by Wayne Iha, Dennis DeYoung, and Marianne Faithfull. After his stint using the Pumpkins, he became a member of the Cupcakes, but came back to Chicago a short while later on when Dreamworks decreased the take action after their debut recording went largely undetected. Meanwhile, Dinou experienced became a member of BombPop and was taking pleasure in some underground achievement in Chicago. Later on reincarnating Exo because of copyright troubles encircling the BombPop name, the quartet continuing to tour and focus on a debut EP. With Walker back Chicago and Dinou choosing to separate his time taken between bands, both began composing and recording brand-new material. They ultimately released the intense Batterie beneath the Retina moniker, but shortly became infatuated with an increase of experimental noises and looser tune structures. Because of this, the duo transformed its name to Difficult Documenting Machine and released Axioms in Sept 2001. A season afterwards, they struck a licensing cope with MTV, which frequently played choices from Axioms in the Chicago model of its REAL LIFE television series.
