Ikonika

Along with Burial and label operator Kode9, producer/DJ Ikonika (Sara Abdel-Hamid) was an integral person in the Hyperdub roster, among the leading dubstep labels. Ahead of releasing her 1st album, 2010’s Get in touch with, Love, Want, Possess, she released a small number of 12″ singles on Hyperdub, aswell as you on World Mu, and she also remixed songs by Mujava (“Township Funk”), the Dark brown Acid (“Bastard Children”), and Egyptrixx (“THE ONLY PATH Up”). Though the majority of her productions integrated some mischievous (if emotive) mix of battering drums, sharp percussion accents, bleep-streaks, and influencing synthesizer textures, no two sounded as well. She co-founded the Hum + Hype label, where she released the Aqueous Cream (2010) and I Make Lists (2012) EPs ahead of reappearing on Hyperdub with her second recording, the stylistically assorted but sternly concentrated Aerotropolis (2013).
