Given birth to Hamid Cheriet in 1949 in Algeria, Idir discovered achievement in the ’70s using the tune “Rsed A Yidess” and two albums of North African-flavored tracks, prior to making a high-profile comeback in 1999 with an all-star cooperation album, Identités. Following achievement of “Rsed A Yidess” in 1973, Idir still left for Paris to indication with Pathe. They released his initial record, A Vava Inouva, in 1975; its name monitor became a mammoth strike. Casting him tightly in the custom of Berber music, his personal sound highlighted traditional Kabylian flute and derbouka.
