Icy Demons

Began by Bablicon’s Griffin Rodriguez (aka Blue Hawaii) and Man Man’s Christopher Powell (aka Pow Pow), Icy Demons certainly are a genre-spanning hypno-rhythmic indie task borrowing heavily from electro, Krautrock, and prog rock and roll, specifically its Canterbury subgenre. Rodriguez requires bass and vocal responsibilities while Powell drums, and both act as the principal ringleaders from the music group, roping within a spinning circus of music artists from their house metropolitan areas of Philadelphia and Chicago. Upon initiation in to the group, people adopt aliases like Graveyard P, Youthful Get good at Schneider, Ta-Freek-Ya, as well as the Diminisher. Cloud Recordings, a label with close ties to Elephant 6, another collective-friendly music group of brothers, got a preference to Icy Demons’ initial record and released FIGHT! in 2004. Between touring using their particular groups and documenting albums for various other music artists at Rodriguez’s Form Shoppe studio room, Rodriguez and Powell discovered time to patch together their second Icy Demons record, Tears of the Clone, in 2006, that was released by Eastern Advancements. To increase their musical efforts and home their creative result, the two began an archive label known as Obey THE HUMAN BRAIN, and released Miami Glaciers in Apr of 2007. Programs followed to try out live shows being a touring music group with guitarist Russell Higbee of Guy Guy, guitarist Jeff Parker of Tortoise, upright bassist Josh Abrams of Prefuse 73 and Sam Prekop, and atmospheric improviser and cellist Tomeka Reid, to get Slint and Arcade Fireplace, so that as a primary stage act on the 2008 Pitchfork Music Celebration. Miami Glaciers was reissued that summertime.
