Biography

Along with his ultra-rich vocals and large repertoire of traditional Irish songs, Iarla Ó Lionáird (pronounced ear-lah o’linnard) has taken the world of Celtic folk music by storm. Among Ireland’s leading performers of the original old-timey design, Ó Lionáird offers continued to create on his traditional origins. Furthermore to recording like a soloist, he’s helped to create the Afro-Celt AUDIO SYSTEM to international interest. The son of the college headmaster who understood influential choir movie director Sean O’Riada, Ó Lionáird started participating in rehearsals of O’Riada’s group, Coir Cuil Aodha, at age five.
