L.A.’s Hypnogaja began like a trip-hop/option pop outfit just before their unlikely development into an electronic-flavored post-grunge rock-band, with complete live instrumentation. The group’s origins lay inside a collaboration between keyboardist/suppliers Nubar and Dr. Brooks, who fulfilled vocalist/songwriter ShyBoy, as well as the three founded Hypnogaja collectively in 1999, sketching from trip-hop, drum’n’bass, and neo-soul in early stages. Woman vocalist Sandy Dark brown also appeared on the debut album, Trend, which made an appearance on Episode Music later on that 12 months. The collective performed around L.A. wherever they could, actually coffeehouses, and steadily drifted into weighty option rock and roll with live instrumentation. Dr. Brooks and Dark brown departed, and a fresh lineup offering ShyBoy, Nubar, guitarist Jeeve, bassist Leif Bunting, and drummer Tim Groeschel coalesced for 2002’s Post-Hypnotic Tension Disorder (around the Gain access to Refused label), which combined post-grunge guitar rock and roll and traditional track framework with atmospheric consumer electronics and designed loops. Groeschel eventually became the group’s tempo guitarist, and a fresh rhythm portion of bassist Daniel Wills and drummer Costs Brennenstuhl was set up for the 2003 EP Wipe out Switch.
