Hugh Aitken

After spending a couple of years being a navigator in the U.S. Military Air Corps, pursuing his research in chemistry at NY School, Hugh Aitken came back to his primary vocation — music. His curiosity about music have been nurtured by his dad, a skilled violinist, and his grandmother, a pianist. It had been completing his program in World Battle I that he enrolled as students on the Juilliard College of Music, where he examined with Vincent Persichetti, Bernard Wagenaar, and Robert Ward, and received his M.S. in 1950. In 1960, the institution employed him as an trainer; in 1970, he was appointed chairman from the William Paterson College’s music section, where he became teacher in 1973. This author of dramatic, orchestral, chamber, and vocal functions, composed two operas (Fables [1975] and Felipe [1980]), partitas, quintets, many concertos, serenades, and different other parts.
