Playing his first live time at age 12 using the legendary Rufus Thomas, drummer Howard Grimes is a mainstay within the Memphis blues and r&b scene for over four decades. He started documenting with Stax information (then referred to as Satellite television) as an adolescent and by his past due twenties he was an associate of the famous Hi there Rhythm Section, support such spirit greats as Ann Peebles and Al Green. Created In Memphis, Tennessee in 1941, Grimes began playing drums at age six, being influenced by the seems he noticed in chapel and by his mother’s 78 recordings, especially Expenses Doggett’s “Honky Tonk.” At Stax he was tutored by Al Jackson of Booker T. as well as the MGs. By enough time he reached Hi there records maker Willie Mitchell, he had been a veteran performer, although he was still in his twenties. As an integral member of the home music group at Royal Documenting Studios in Memphis, Grimes was instrumental in creating some probably the most unforgettable songs and spirit grooves from the 1970s.
