House & Parish

Shaped in 2006 by members from the early-’90s hardcore revival, the Brooklyn-based outfit Home & Parish generate an atmospheric make of indie rock and roll that evokes the quartet’s Britpop and shoegaze affects. Vocalist/guitarist John Herguth previously offered as frontman for the Like Picture, whose Wilco-influenced audio earned the group a agreement with Nirvana’s A&R guy, Mark Kates. Once the music group prematurely split in 2006, Herguth became a member of guitarist Jason Gnewikow (previously of the Guarantee Band), bassist Scott Winegard (former mate- Texas ‘s the reason), and drummer Brian Malone (ex-the Gloria Record) to create Home & Parish. The group quickly moved into the studio room with former Competitor Universities guitarist Ian Like within the producer’s chair, and the ensuing One, One-Thousand EP found its way to November 2007, having a full-length debut slated for the next year.
