House of Rhythm

Although lumped along with the 3rd wave ska revival from the middle-’90s, the London-based quintet Home of Rhythm is a lot even more into traditional ’60s-design Jamaican ska than a lot of the artists for the reason that short-lived revival, the majority of whom used the punk-inflected United kingdom ska boom of 1979 as their starting place. House of Tempo includes lead vocalist Leon Kirkland, percussionist and vocalist Michael “Charlie” Charles, trumpeter Ralph Lamb, guitarist Nigel Cost, bassist Jeff Lucas, and drummer Jeremy Holroyd. On the debut record, 1996’s Within a Different Design, the group is normally augmented by an alto and tenor saxophonist and a set of keyboard players.
