Hotel

This US rock-band, formed in the late 70s, was frequently accused of ‘taking a hammer to crack a nutshell’, to quote one analogy. The put together ranks of Resort, who specialised in grandiloquent, multi-layered AOR, included Tommy Caton (acoustic guitar, vocals), Marc Phillips (keyboards, vocals), Michael Reid (acoustic guitar, vocals), George Creasman (bass, vocals), Lee Bargeon (keyboards, vocals) and Michael Cadenhead (drums, percussion). Their 1979 debut recording, released on MCA Information, was a unsatisfactory collection of tunes where the concentrate on unneeded musical embellishment detracted from your group’s songwriting. Half Moon Metallic, which adopted a year later on, was a noticable difference, but it, as well, didn’t elevate them in to the AOR mainstream.
