Horse Stories

The root base rock trio, Equine Stories, is situated in LA, California, USA, but its origins lay down in various other regions. Its head, Toby Burke (vocals, electric guitar, harmonica), is normally originally from Melbourne, Australia, where he done demos with music artists on mortgage from other rings, including Mike Thomas (Wedding ceremonies, Celebrations, Anything) and Dan Warner (Right away Jones). Burke ultimately settled in LA (after his sibling offered him area and board now there), and started performing locally being a solo musician. He had not been more comfortable with the singer-songwriter label that was positioned upon him, and wanted to find additional musicians to create a band. Initial up was Tx indigenous Clinton Stapleton (drums), who made an appearance with Burke once the event demanded and in addition helped him record a debut recording. Acquiring their name from a 1996 recording release through the Dirty Three, Burke and Stapleton released their debut documenting, Venturing Mercies (For Stressed Pathways), in 2002. Burke’s haunting lo-fi Americana shone through on stand-out paths ‘Radio’ and ‘Run after’. The duo was after that became a member of by their visual designer, Jeff Holmes, who performed guitar on Equine Stories second recording A HUNDRED Waves. Burke continuing to utilize Stapleton and Holmes while also touring single under the Equine Tales moniker. He released his single debut, Winsome Lonesome, in August 2004.
