Horse Lords

Equine Lords are an experimental rock and roll quartet from Baltimore comprising Andrew Bernstein (saxophone, percussion), Maximum Eilbacher (bass, modular synthesizers), Owen Gardner (acoustic guitar), and Sam Haberman (drums). Influenced by composer La Monte Youthful, the group has in only intonation, changing their equipment and playing unconventional tunings to be able to create a distinctive audio. The group’s extended, hypnotic, polyrhythmic compositions pull from Krautrock, Afrobeat, and Appalachian folk customs, and are amazingly available for such experimental music. The group produced this year 2010 and released Mixtape, Vol. 1 in 2012, accompanied by their self-titled correct debut full-length on Ehse Information. Two even more mixtapes implemented, as the group toured america and Canada with famous brands Matmos, Guerilla Toss, and Guardian Alien. Carrying out a 2013 divide 7″ with Decrease Dens over the Famous Course label, Equine Lords’ sophomore LP Hidden Metropolitan areas was released by Burlington, Vermont-based NNA Tapes in 2014. The group released digital collection Hidden Metropolitan areas Remix in 2015, offering reinterpretations by Jason Urick, Wobbly, and single mixes by both associates of Matmos. The quartet’s third record, Interventions, premiered by Brooklyn’s North Spy label in 2016.
