Horse Feathers

An indie folk music group from Portland, Oregon, Equine Feathers includes singer/songwriter Justin Ringle (classical guitar, vocals, percussion) and a rotating ensemble of supporting music artists, including multi-instrumentalist Peter Broderick and many string players. Ringle was raised in Idaho and performed in a number of short-lived indie rock and roll bands before shifting to Portland, where he started playing shows beneath the name Equine Feathers. It had been in Portland that he fulfilled Broderick, an associate of the set up local action Norfolk & Traditional western. Both spent a lot of 2005 composing music and honing their live shows at several Portland open-mike evenings, effectively turning Equine Feathers from a single project right into a duo. Inspired by both stark folk music of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska as well as the post-classical function of Scandinavian composer Potential Richter, the duo inserted the studio room in Feb 2006 to record Phrases Are Useless, a chamber-folk record offering Ringle’s high, reedy vocals and Broderick’s Baroque filigree. Phrases Are Dead premiered on Lucky Madison Information in Sept 2006. The music group inked a cope with the Wipe out Rock Superstars label the next season and released Home with No House in 2008. Home with No House became among the highest-selling debuts in Get rid of Rock Celebrities’ background, and Thistled Springtime followed this year 2010, marking the group’s first launch without Broderick. The band’s 4th full-length outing, Cynic’s New Yr, found its way to 2012, adopted in 2014 from the breezy SO THAT IT Has been Us.
