Holy Ghost Receptive Committee #9

Christian psychedelic quintet the Holy Ghost Receptive Committee #9 was the brainchild of Anthony Myers, a teacher at NY City’s Regis SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL — designated circa 1967 to utilize students to create and perform modern minded songs that might be played out at Mass. He constructed guitarists Dennis Blair, Affluent Esposito, Bob Kearney and Tag Puleo, along with bassist Larry Johnson. The task proved so effective that Myers arrived the group a documenting agreement with ecumenical publisher Paulist Press, and in 1968 the Holy Ghost Receptive Committee #9 (therefore named with a fellow pupil) released its initial LP, Tracks for Liturgical Worship. After a 1969 follow-up, The Torchbearers, the group dissolved; Blair afterwards enjoyed a profession being a stand-up comic, starting for the renowned George Carlin for over ten years.
