Holy Fuck

The Toronto-based electronic collective Holy Fuck were formed in 2004 by Graham Walsh and Brian Borcherdt. Referred to as “blip-hoppers” and “a shabbily outfitted Kraftwerk,” Holy Fuck started creating lo-fi digital sound music with previous analog musical and nonmusical equipment, including a 35mm film synchronizer. Minus the use of notebooks or other equipment common to early 21st hundred years digital music, they strove to re-create their chaotic, Casio-driven live existence on the albums, the to begin which — a self-titled work — made an appearance in 2005. Known mainly for improvising on-stage with a number of gadgets strewn across a desk and held as well as duct tape, both toured intensely and wrote monitors because of their 2007 record, LP, while on the highway. Offering collaborations from Dave Newfield (Broken Public Picture) and Owen Pallett (Last Illusion), the record received a Juno Prize nomination for Choice Album of the entire year and earned an area on the brief list for the Canadian Polaris Music Award. Previous Enon drummer Matt Schulz became a member of the lineup in 2008, while Holy Fuck covered up a well-received tour with M.We.A. The entire band returned this year 2010 using a third record, Latin, its 1st to add bassist Matt McQuaid. Boasting higher creation ideals than their earlier efforts, the recording received reviews that are positive and was positioned on the very long list for the Polaris Music Reward. The group toured continuously following a album’s launch, but apart from a 2014 tour solitary, no fresh recordings surfaced until 2016. Congrats, Holy Fuck’s 4th full-length recording, made an appearance on Innovative Amusement in May of this year.
