Hobson’s Choice

Acquiring equal inspiration from classic pop/rock and roll as well as the revivalist new wave movement of the first 2000s, Hobson’s Choice produced in 2001 in Charlottesville, VA. Brian Spreng (drums), Matt Make (bass), Andrew Leahey (vocals, electric guitar), and Jim Thomson (electric guitar, vocals) comprised the original lineup, and some local displays and self-financed local tours set up Hobson’s Choice being a hometown pull. Regional keyboardist (and fellow School of Virginia pupil) Evan Smith became a member of in fall 2003, as well as the music group briefly decamped to Richmond, VA, to record their debut discharge. 3:10 was released the next January, and its own initial pressing sold-out within a few months. By summer months 2005, nevertheless, the group acquired silently disbanded, with many associates relocating to NY and Thomson resurfacing as the business lead guitarist of Le Loup.
