Home / Biography / Hillside

A modern soul trio from LA, California, USA, Hillside launched their recording career in 1996 using a self-titled collection released independently Organized Fun label. Composed of Anthony ‘Rox’ Dark brown, Wayne Cockerham and Eric ‘Junx’ Jenkins, their record highlighted the group’s tasteful mixture of traditional vocal R&B harmonies with rhythms and melodies motivated by the spirit and funk customs. They had primarily discovered the music sector disinterested in what they referred to as ‘the live, instrumental issue’, therefore the group create Organized Fun, written by Bellmark, and created Hillside themselves. The accent on live drums rather than drum machine helped distinguish the group’s ‘classicist’ motives through the plethora of male R&B groupings, as do the lack of examples and their choice for their very own musicianship (keyboards, bass and drums). The record was promoted with the discharge of an individual, ‘Pearl’.
