Led by ex-Camper Van Beethoven multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Segel, the free-form underground rock and roll unit Hieronymus Firebrain was an extension of Segel’s 1989 single LP Storytelling, composed of lots of the same musicians who performed within the album. After issuing a self-titled 1991 debut record over the Delta label, nevertheless, Hieronymus Firebrain’s roster underwent some fluctuations which still left Segel as the only real remaining primary member; a fresh lineup released the 1994 LPs There and Right here before disbanding. Segel and drummer Russ Blackmar shortly reunited in the trio Jack port & Jill.
