Hercules & Love Affair

The producer behind Hercules & ROMANCE, Andrew Butler, began DJ’ing in a natural leather bar as a teenager in his local Denver, Colorado. Following a move to NY, he became further immersed in golf club culture as a celebration promoter and begun to make his very own music. Butler’s initial 12″ for the DFA label, 2007’s “Classique”/”Roar” — a co-production with Tim Goldsworthy — highlighted vocals from close associate Kim Ann Foxman and friend Antony Hegarty, bearing his deep affinity for electro-disco and early Chicago home. “Blind,” an early-2008 follow-up, preceded a self-titled full-length released on DFA that March. A season later, Butler constructed Sidetracked, a DJ combine heavy on past due-’80s and early-’90s home favorites, for the Renaissance label. His group’s second record, the fairly low-key Blue Tracks, was released on Moshi Moshi in early 2011. An extended version having a reward disk of remixes implemented that August. Butler after that provided a combination for !K7’s long-running DJ-Kicks series, released in November 2012. After acquiring second record Blue Tracks on tour, Butler decamped to Vienna and discovered himself an analog studio room to place down concepts for his third record. Opting this time around to get a dirtier audio — by blending elements of tough home and techno — Butler became a member of makes with Haze Manufacturer and Blue Tracks collaborator Tag Pistel (Consolidated) to check the raw path that he previously decided to consider. The Feast from the Broken Center, featuring business lead vocal transforms from famous brands John Offer, Krystle Warren, and Rouge Mary, premiered in-may 2014.
