Henry W. Savage

b. 21 March 1859, Durham, New Hampshire, USA, d. 29 November 1927, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. An extremely prolific Broadway manufacturer from the convert from the 20th hundred years through to the first 20s, Savage was in charge of dozens of displays. Among we were holding the musicals Ruler Dodo (1902), The Prince Of Pilsen and Peggy From Paris (both 1903), The Yankee Consul, The Sho-Gun, and Woodland (all 1904), THE PERSON From Now as well as the Student Ruler (both 1906), The Yankee Visitor, The Merry Widow, and Tom Jones (all 1907), The Homosexual Hussars as well as the Love Treat (both 1909), Small Boy Blue (1911), SOMEPLACE ELSE (1913), Sari and Maid Of Athens (both 1914), Pom-Pom (1916), Possess A Center (1917), Toot-Toot! and Mind Over Pumps (both 1918), See-Saw (1919), Female Billy (1920), an additional revival from the Merry Widow (1921), The Clinging Vine (1922), The Magic Band (1923), and Lollipop (1924). There have been also several musicals staged by agreement with Savage who acquired secured the privileges for several displays. Apparently, in his dealings with stars, writers, composers among others, Savage resided up to his name and was heartily disliked by many. His last Broadway displays, not musicals, had been Lass O’Laughter and Stolen Fruits (both 1925).
