Henrique Vogeler

Author of several classics from the golden period of Brazilian track, Henrique Vogeler was also an experienced pianist and author of successful operettas. Child of Jaime Vogeler, he started his piano research at five, later on completing the program in the Conservatório Nacional de Música. He was sometimes an alternative for Ernesto Nazareth in the piano from the Movie theater Odeon. In 1928 he published his masterpiece “Linda Flor” (also known in various variations as “Meiga Flor” and “Ai, Iôiô”), which later on received fresh lyrics by Luís Peixoto, getting nationally popular in the Araci Cortes documenting. His operetta Canção Brasileira (1933) became successful with Vicente Celestino as well as the debuting Gilda de Abreu, achieving the tag of 300 consecutive shows. In 1930 he proved helpful as program pianist for Odeon. In 1943, he was nominated by Heitor Villa-Lobos for the Conservatório Nacional de Canto Orfeônico. He was also creative movie director for Odeon and Brunswick documenting companies. He documented an record distributed abroad, including his compositions and Ernesto Nazareth’s. He still left, along with many tracks, the unpublished operettas Gigante Papa-Gente, Maria Negra, Branca de Neve e operating-system Sete Anõha sido, Senhorita, yet others. Fagner’s “Mucuripe” can be acknowledged by analysts to actually be Henrique’s structure.
