Heliotropes

Brooklyn-based genre-bending indie quartet Heliotropes began in ’09 2009 when vocalist/songwriters Jessica Numsuwankijkul and Amber Myers published an ad in Craigslist, initially searching for musicians to try out Brian Eno covers with. These were ultimately joined up with by drummer Cici Harrison and bassist Nya Abudu, with performers Numsuwankijkul and Myers doubling on electric guitar and percussion, respectively. Their audio grew off their first days of addresses of Eno and Spacemen 3 right into a wide-ranging quilt of large sludge metal electric guitar shades, shoegaze drone rock and roll, and occasional lady group vocal harmonies. The band’s 1st recorded output was included with 2011’s Ribbons 7″, accompanied by some digital-only produces. The next couple of years noticed the music group touring nationally, including halts in the South by Southwest event so that as support for Esben as well as the Witch. Their debut recording, A Constant Ocean, premiered in 2013 on LA label Manimal Vinyl fabric. The record received enthusiastic testimonials, and was shortly reissued on LP by Goodnight Information. In the wintertime of 2014, Numsuwankijkul became captivated by Globe Wars I and II, reading books and viewing documentaries in the issues. Numsuwankijkul’s analysis on war up to date her songwriting, which became the foundation of Heliotropes’ second record, 2016’s Over There That Method. The record also introduced a fresh Heliotropes lineup, with Numsuwankijkul became a member of by guitarist Ricci Swift, bassist Richard Thomas, and drummer Gregg Guiffre.
