Heikki Sarmanto

b. 22 June 1939, Helsinki, Finland. Sarmanto examined dialects and music at Helsinki School and Sibelius Academy prior to going to the Berklee University Of Music (1968-71). He was called the very best pianist at Montreux in 1971. He led his very own rings from 1962 and in 1976 a workshop group he went became the best music group UMO. He provides written New Wish Jazz Mass, a jazz ballet along with a jazz opera, and was selected by saxophonist Sonny Rollins to set up and orchestrate his Saxophone Concerto (1986). He proceeds to create vocal, orchestral and theatre functions inside a most assured design.
