Heavens may be the music collaboration between close friends Alkaline Trio guitarist Matt Skiba and F-Minus bassist Josiah Steinbrick. Relocating from Chicago to LA in the first 2000s, Skiba became a housemate with East Coastline indigenous Steinbrick. Spending downtime collectively going out and hearing records, Steinbrick 1 day performed Skiba some instrumental songs he’d previously documented; instantly falling deeply in love with the tunes, the two quickly began writing collectively. Steinbrick initially discovering the music, both would lay out the tracks in the home and Skiba would later on add lyrics. The producing tunes, which noticed Skiba acquiring vocals and Steinbrick managing the tools, allowed both men to utilize influences — just like the Sisters of Mercy, Cable, Brian Eno, and Tv — not really normally heard within their main punk-oriented bands. Within the period of weekly in August 2004, the framework of the debut recording, Patent Pending, was completed. At that time, both proceeded to go their separate methods, Skiba to record Crimson using the Trio and Steinbrick to keep composing for Thieves Like Us. Patent Pending was finally carried out in Feb 2006 and released on Epitaph that Sept. Heavens after that embarked on per month of tour times with Darker My Like opening.
