Heavens to Betsy

Pioneering riot-grrrl duo Heavens to Betsy was shaped in 1991 by singer/guitarist Corin Tucker and drummer Tracy Sawyer, longtime friends through the Eugene, OR area who started collaborating on music while attendng Evergreen Condition College in Olympia, WA. Some compilation looks preceded the band’s Destroy Rock Stars solitary “These Monsters Are Genuine,” adopted in 1994 from the LP Calculated; within the wake from the Chainsaw label seven-inch “Path,” Heavens to Betsy disbanded, with Tucker later on going to popularity leading Sleater-Kinney.
