Harvie S

An excellent and flexible bassist in a position to contribute to a multitude of advanced configurations, Harvie S (previously Harvie Swartz) could very well be most widely known for his group of duet recordings and performances with singer Sheila Jordan. Originally a pianist, he began playing bass pretty past due (in 1967, when he had been 19) but created quickly. After participating in Berklee, he performed in the Boston region with Al Cohn and Zoot Sims, Mose Allison, and Chris Connor, amongst others. After shifting to NY in 1972, Swartz caused Jackie & Roy, Jackie Paris, Thad Jones, Gil Evans, Lee Konitz, Barry Kilometers and Silverlight (1974-1976), David Friedman, Two times Picture, Dave Matthews’ big music group, Steve Kuhn (1977-1981), Paul Motian, and countless additional top music artists. Harvie Swartz offers headed many of his personal organizations, including Urban Globe (which documented for Gramavision); he in addition has led times for Bluemoon and Novus, and documented frequently with Sheila Jordan. Through the past due ’90s he created a pastime in Latin jazz after learning Afro-Cuban music. He integrated this impact into his personal music, leading to his Vision Contact task. Bembe Information released the debut Vision Contact recording, Havana Mañana, in 1999 and came back in 2002 having a follow-up, New Starting, that presented Michael Brecker (saxophone) and Ray Vega (trombone). Since 2001, Swartz offers performed as Harvie S., liberating a dozen or even more information under that moniker.
