Harvey Watkins, Jr.

American gospel singer Harvey Watkins, Jr. is most beneficial known for his function leading the Canton Spirituals, a pioneering gospel group that his dad, Harvey Watkins, Sr., 1st founded in 1943. Given birth to in 1954 in Canton, Mississippi, Watkins, Jr. performed regularly along with his father’s group throughout his child years, eventually joining like a full-time member in 1973. Pursuing his father’s loss of life in 1994, he assumed management of the group and it has acted as business lead singer since. Watkins, Jr. also released a successful single profession in 1990 using the launch of his first recording, He’s Here On a regular basis. Throughout the remaining decade he continued to be specialized in the Canton Spirituals, documenting many acclaimed albums and generating a Grammy nomination for his or her 1993 Reside in Memphis recording. Watkins, Jr. came back in 2003 along with his personal solo live recording, It’s in my own Heart: Reside in Raymond, MS for the Verity label. In the meantime, the Canton Spirituals continued to be active through the entire 2000s, documenting albums like 2002’s Strolling by Beliefs and 2007’s Powered. Another six years would move before Watkins, Jr. as well as the group came back with 2013’s Maintain Knocking, this time around for the Malaco label.
